About Me

Hi, I'm Gavin, I'm passionate about robotics. I have always been interested in how things work, and have a natural ability to fix things and solve problems. Living in Japan made me realise the possibilities of robotics and automation. So after some time doing other things, I decided to pursue a career in engineering. I would decribe myself as a pragmatist, although I do enjoy thinking outside the box as long as its based in reality. I am at my best when I am trusted, given responsibility, and the freedom to explore solutions as a team or individually. Please see my projects below.

Project during my time at Microchip Technology, I made a robotic hand controlled by EMG signals. and 10BaseT1s communication between the microcontrollers.

Running object detection on a Raspberry Pi and Neural Compute Stick. This project uses Yolo Tiny v3 and COCO dataset to detect objects.

Ball & Beam Robotic Control System using PID control. This was a first year project in college, I made a working prototype.

Micromouse Project

I made this simple micromouse following the ukmarsbot materials for the hardware setup, ordering and customising the PCB, buying parts at Akizuki electronic, soldering everything together, and writing my own algorithms for maze solving.

Thermal Camera with Raspberry Pi and a Panasonic AMG8854

The sensor is 8x8 but with some software it can be adjusted to more using bicubic interpolation. The project was inpired by adafruit's project found here: Adafruit Project
